6 Best Tasting Vegan Burgers (and Great Vegan Products)

Burgers are popular, also among vegans. I love burgers. I had some incredible ones only yesterday, and I had more than I planned on having ;-), feeling mighty full in the evening. Once in a while it’s OK to indulge. This is why I came up with the idea of writing about great veggie burgers – and I have tasted many. There were some I loved and a few I was not impressed with. So, let me write here my list of the best tasting vegan burgers.

6 Best Tasting Vegan Burgers (and Great Vegan Products)

Morningstar Farms

They do not only offer burgers, but also sausage links, Buffalo wings, veggie chick patties, chorizo crumble, veggie dogs, and corn dogs. Morningstar Farms foods taste really good and are highly recommended. Some products are vegetarian and others are apt for vegans. The vegetarian versions contain egg whites and milk fat, but some have already been made completely vegan.

The good news is that Morningstar Farms products will be 100% vegan by 2021. 🙂

Beyond Meat

Ever since this company launched their first vegan products, it has rained accolades of praise on them. Everyone I know who has tasted the burgers or sausages raves over their excellent flavor, and on Amazon Beyond Meat collects one 5 star review after another. Many say that it tastes just like meat and that non vegans are often fooled by its great texture and flavor.

So, if you haven’t tried Beyond Burger yet, isn’t it about time you gave it a try? This is another product that I highly recommend. 🙂

Field Roast

This is a personal favorite of mine, and I absolutely love their sausages. Field Roast is an amazing company that Field Roast cheesesoffers not only artisanal burgers and sausages, but also vegan cheeses (called Chao cheese). There is a nice variety of flavors such as Mexican blend, Chili Mac ‘N Chao, Garden Herb, Tomato Cayenne, creamy original Chao slices, and more; Chao shreds, Chao block. These are flavorful cheeses that will go nicely with your burgers.

Amy’s Kitchen

These burgers have also received excellent reviews on Amazon and are a favorite among many. The Amy’s Sonoma Garden burger is made of organic vegetables, mushroom, and quinoa: It is vegan, gluten free, and kosher.

Beside their Sonoma burger, Amy’s Kitchen also offers a veggie loaf whole meal, which is gluten free, tree nut free, vegan, and kosher.

Impossible Foods

“Grill burgers, not the planet” is their slogan on their website.

This company is another one that has received a multitude of 5 star reviews on Amazon and it is listed as one of the best vegan meat alternatives. Their burgers come in different sized packs, like the convenience pack, combo, family, and grilling pack.

These burgers have 19g of protein per serving and are entirely made of plants, with a meaty flavor.

Impossible Foods is definitely another wonderful recommendation!

Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods

This company is listed as nr. 1 when you Google the best vegan burgers. Dr. Praeger’s, an all-natural frozen foods company, has been around for a long time; it was founded by cardiac surgeons Dr. Peter Praeger and Dr. Eric Somberg in 1994.

Besides delicious burgers they offer a whole variety of foods, and there are even some food items for kids, making it a lot easier to feed your children those vegetables 😉

Dr. Praeger’s products are sensibly sourced, which means that the ingredients are traceable. They also focus on providing an enjoyable food experience, in other words, making sure that the food tastes awesome.

Their list of products is long, so I am going to name just a few to give you an idea: veggie burgers, turk’y burgers, sliders, chick’n sliders, plant-based ground, veggie sausages, All American veggie burgers, and other types of burgers. The amount of burgers they offer is simply incredible.

What you see in the above image is just a small fraction of all the burgers that are listed on their website.

Kid’s Food

The littles are broccoli, spinach, potato, and kale, those vegetables that make most children turn their noses up. With those littles, however, they are going to love them, because the veggies are shaped like animals, and did I mention flavor? 😉

Some items are vegetarian and others are vegan. There are breakfast bowls, hash browns, and puffs, and more.

Dr. Praeger’s has additionally earned the following certifications:

  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten free (over half of the products are gluten free)
  • Vegan (by vegan.org)
  • Certified sustainable seafood (they offer mostly vegetarian and vegan meals, but they also have seafood; for more info, please check their website here)
  • Kosher (by Orthodox Union, the world’s most trusted kosher certification)

This is definitely a company that is worth checking out.

Final Thoughts

The above companies are all highly rated on Amazon and each one of them offers their own unique flavors. If you are new to veganism, feel free to try out some of these products I mentioned in this article. They are amazing! And like I mentioned before, if you are having non vegan friends over for a barbecue, serving Beyond Meat burgers and sausages have fooled many hard core meat eaters 😉

Have you already tried any of these brands? Which one did you like the most? Are there any other vegan companies that you like and recommend and which I have not mentioned here? Let me know in the comments 🙂

  1. Interestingly, I have prepared a few vegan recipes, but never tried vegan burgers. Reading your post certainly has my mouth watering for one now. I especially would love to try Amy’s Kitchen. Matter of fact, I think I’ll make an order to prepare some over the weekend. A burger with quinoa is definitely worth trying. I’ll bookmark your post so I can try some others another time.

  2. Hi Christine, no, I haven’t tried any of your mentioned burgers. In fact, I had even never heard of the brands. But I am lucky enough to be married to an excellent cook. Your remark about fooling hard core meat eaters reminded me of the vegetable burgers Tom makes for the grandchildren (very difficult eaters, especially concerning vegetables, like a lot of children). It fools them enough to be completely happy eating those 🙂
I’ll tell him to try and make figurines of them next time for even more success!!
    Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Hi, Christine,

I’m not a vegan myself, but I have a few friends who are. One of them invited us for a barbecue once, and he made burgers. If he hadn’t told us those burgers were vegan, I wouldn’t have been able to see the difference.

I have been thinking of becoming vegan or at least eating less meat for both health and environmental concerns. Besides Beyond Meat, which other brand(s) would you recommend for new vegans or people interested in becoming vegans? Also, when you mention we can get them on Amazon, is it the normal platform or Amazon Pantry? I’ve never used the latter, although I don’t think it would pose a problem.

Thanks for sharing. I’m sure vegans and people interested in becoming vegan will found these recommendations useful.

    • Hi Enrique,

I believe it, there are several burgers and other meat replacement meals that taste just like meat and can fool anyone 😉 Besides Beyond Meat, I also recommend Field Roast, Tofurky, the ones I mentioned in my article, and Lightlife and Gardein also have great products.
I have never tried Amazon Pantry before, but I think that it can be ordered through there too; I’ll check to make sure. The links I provide link to the normal platform.
      Thank you for your comment!

We serve it in our tacos and its so yummy. The whole family loves it!! I try to eat gluten free as much as possible. Do you know if the Impossible Burger is gluten free?

  6. Oh, here is a very good post and I am just so glad that I have learnt about the best vegan burgers. I find it hard to even believe that’s there is something like a vegan burger. Since I am learning to become a vegan though, I feel it would be nice for me to try some of the burgers too. I think I know Amy’s kitchen so I’ll get down there to get some. I hope you can probably make a post that teaches us how to make a vegan burger too.

  7. Love this!

I’ve tried beyond meat and oh my. You cant tell the difference between this and the real meat. It’s a bit pricier but hey, its super worth it.

Been trying to slowly substitute my meals to vegan ones. And this list is definitely one to try.

    Thanks for sharing!!

    Cheers.

  9. I worked out the other day that I´m a “pesquerian” as I try to avoid meat. However, I confess, I do try to eat vegan when I can, but the challenge with vegan is having a meal that is tasty!  And I love sausages & burgers, but I always feel so guilty eating them.  Perhaps you have provided a solution for me to overcome my guilt trip.  These tasty vegan burgers and sausages. They certainly look good. The Field Roast in particular looks like a great option. Anything with a Mexican Blend, yes please, I love that “kick”. I have genuinely saved this url and will be back. Can you recommend any vegan burger/sausage recipes at all?
