Vegan Feta Cheese Brand – Follow Your Heart Feta Crumbles

Follow Your Heart is not a dating site, although it is a good name for that. It’s actually a wonderful vegan food company and they have released many tasty products, like veganaise in original and other flavors.

Recently, Follow Your Heart released a brand-new product, vegan feta crumbles. So, on top of sour cream, Parmesan, Cheddar, Provolone, Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella now they even have vegan feta cheese. Yummy!

Vegan Feta Cheese Brand - Follow Your Heart Feta Crumbles

This vegan feta cheese brand has coconut oil as its base and is made of only ten ingredients. It’s non-GMO, dairy and gluten-free, it has no soy or preservatives, and on top of that it tastes exactly like feta cheese.

Starting June 30th this product will be available at Sprouts stores in the US and also at Albertsons and Vons in Southern California. Hopefully soon, it will be added to other retailers.

Besides the feta crumbles, what other products does Follow Your Heart offer?

There is the legendary veganaise, which is really good (I’ve tried different flavors). Then there is Parmesan, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Provolone, Pizzeria Blend Shreds, Smoked Gouda, and Gourmet Shreds.

Follow Your Heart has a wide selection and offers authentic, delicious flavors. I’m a big fan of their veganaise varieties.

Good News about Follow Your Heart

Products are gluten free and dairy free. They are also free of peanuts and tree nuts (except for coconuts). All of their products are certified kosher, except for the Balsamic dressings and sauces.

Many of their products are also organic or made with organic ingredients, and Follow Your Heart is non-GMO.

This is all excellent news, so far.

Some Doubts about Follow Your Heart?

What about canola oil? They use it in their products and canola oil is known not to be the healthiest oil. Here is Follow Your Heart’s reply (source, Follow Your Heart website).

doubt

We take the quality of our ingredients very seriously and only use ingredients which are aligned with our mission to produce wholesome, pure foods. Canola oil is completely safe for human consumption, and the canola oil we use in our products, unlike most canola oil, is not genetically modified (GM). Health-conscious consumers should be aware that most of the canola oil currently on store shelves is modified to be herbicide resistant (herbicide-resistant GM canola or Roundup Ready Canola was introduced in 1995) and, unless the oil is verified non-GMO by a third party like the Non-GMO Project, an ingredient listing of “canola oil” or even “non-GMO canola oil” should be considered GM or possibly contaminated with GM material.”

Then there is also the question about palm oil, which had me a little worried, since I tend to avoid products that contain palm oil. Palm oil is linked to deforestation and loss of habitat for orangutangs and elephants.

orangutang

Here is Follow Your Heart’s encouraging reply (also from their website): “We are very aware of the deforestation of thousands of acres of orangutan habitat in Southeast Asia for palm oil farms. We’re very mindful about where our Palm Oil comes from and only use palm oil from certified Rainforest Alliance (RA) farms (not to be confused with RSPO certified).

We source our Palm Oil from sustainable, family-owned cooperative farms in Central and South America, which are not orangutan habitats. We work with our suppliers and Rainforest Alliance to verify that the palm oil we use does not contribute to the suffering of any animals. We also make sure none of the farms we purchase from are contributing to deforestation. We are passionate about the ethical nature of our ingredients and devote resources to educating the public on palm oil farming.”

It would not make sense for a vegan company to obtain an ingredient from extreme animal suffering, so their explanation is reassuring.

Anything Else?

Their products are also said to be “powered by the sun” which means that their facilities run on solar energy. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

All in all, this is a company that can be fully supported. Not only are their products non-GMO and allergen free, they are also dairy and gluten free and produced in installations that do not pollute the environment.

As for taste, I have tried several of their products and they have a rich flavor, highly recommended.

You can find more info on their website.

And you can try out some of their products here:

And of course, there’s the newly released feta cheese. It is not on Amazon yet, but you can also order it from their website. However, it should be available on Amazon soon. 🙂

  1. A great review on these products which I thank you for introducing myself too. Whilst I am not a true vegan I like to eat natural organic products. I do not eat dairy, gluten and soy so seeing this product was a real eye opener. I really like the way you have giving us the insight to really find out more about the moral standings of this company which made for an enjoyable read. I know how difficult it is to deliver good unprocessed foods to the masses so this was a pleasant surprise.

There website was really nice to know about and I have book marked for the future.

    Thank you for sharing.

  2. Hi Christine, I really like veganaise. I have only tried original veganaise. But now seeing all these options I would like to try other flavors too.

I like this brief note about Follow Your Heart having their facilities “powered by the sun”. That tells us a lot about this companies commitment being eco-friendly. I also like that their products are gluten free and dairy free. I’ll purchase and try them myself. Thanks.

  3. Hello,
When I first landed on the article, I didn’t want to read as I thought it is another synthetic products. When I started reading, I got caught in the web. I was amazed to find out all these products from follow your hearth are purely organic.
The only thing that worries me is that you didn’t mention Africa among the countries you can purchase follow your heart products. If they are not yet on the internet marketing, they should consider it. Thank you so much for this educative products

    • Hi there,

Yes, it’s a shame that they do not sell their products everywhere. I hope that they will expand their market one day to Africa.

    • Hi Matt,

I have tried several of their products, but not all of them yet. I love the original veganaise and also the chipotle veganaise.

  7. Thank you for introducing us to these Vegan products, and the packaging looks very impressive, so let’s hope they taste as good as they look.

How do the prices compare with their non-vegan counterparts. In South Africa the Vegan food tends to still be very pricey, so it may be good to look further afield for these sorts of products.

  8. This is very interesting – a Vegan Feta-Cheese? Unheard of before. I kept wondering how could be dairy-free feta cheese be made? And then you clear the air by mentioning coconut oil as base. It’s a pity that it is available only at Albertsons and Vons in South Carolina. By when is it expected to be available across stores in USA?

Follow you Heart has a fabulous collection. It is a must for vegan practitioners.

The Best part is that  the product range is organic and follows natural ingredients for maximum health benefits.

    Great review post.

    • Hi Rohit,

I’m not sure when it will be available across stores in the US. It was just released, but I think that it should be distributed everywhere soon, it can only be in their advantage to have this available in more stores, right? 😉
